Mr Peachum and his wife run a thriving begging company in London, but their private lives aren’t going quite as well. Their only daughter Polly has fallen in love with Mack the Knife, England’s most infamous and wanted criminal. He’s only walking around free because he bribed Police Chief Tiger Brown, but the walls are closing in on him.

Brecht’s criminal comedy and Weill’s catchy score celebrate human depravity so callously and insolently that one can only delight when the moon shines over Soho.
